There were 6 cities designated as a refuge.
The avenger could chase a person who killed another accidentally or unawares until they found refuge in one of these places.
The cities of refuge point to Jesus Christ as the ultimate refuge.
Whosoever flees to him for refuge will find forgiveness of sins, peace with God, and rest for the soul!
