Should we preach on the streets of our city?
There are many opinions related to street preaching on the streets of a town or city.
Many Christians are encouraged by the courage and boldness of men and women who are willing to stand for our Lord Jesus Christ and hold signs, sing hymns and preach the Bible.
Some Christians say that it is not right and gives people the "wrong impression" of Christianity. I am so glad street preachers throughout church history obeyed the Lord Jesus Christ and preached in the open air! Jesus and His followers spent the majority of their time in the open preaching and teaching the Bible.

At Bible Baptist Church, we take our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ to the streets.
Each week on Thursdays and Saturdays at 11am, we preach from the square of Dover and on Fridays at 11am, we preach from the courthouse corner of the New Philadelphia town square. In addition, some of our folks preach after work by Buehlers and on the corner leading to Walmart.
We hold signs with God's Word, pass out gospel tracts, engage people in discussions about the Bible, and we preach the Scriptures. We invite all people to repent and trust Christ to the saving of their souls!
By the way, you may not agree with our methods. The key is that we must all do something for our Lord. He deserves it! What is He telling you to do for His glory? That being said, I am sure glad that Jesus, His disciples, Paul and all those who followed him, and believers all through church history preached on the streets.

How is it that people will call upon Jesus Christ to be saved if they have never heard?
Romans 10:14 - How then shall they call upon him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Acts 17:18 - "Then certain of the philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection."
What was it like to "encounter" the apostle Paul? Well, to do so, you would have found him on the street preaching Jesus Christ crucified and the resurrection.
How is it that people will call upon Jesus Christ to be saved if they have never heard?
And, how many lost people will make their way to a church service this week to listen to the Word of God be preached?
"Some want to live within the sound of church or chapel bell; I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell."
- C.T. Studd
"Our Lord himself, who is yet more our pattern, delivered the larger portion of his sermons on the mountain's side, or by the sea shore, or in the streets. Our Lord was to all intents and purposes an open air preacher. He did not remain silent in the synagogue, but he was equally at home in the field."
- Charles Spurgeon
