5. The Living Tabernacle

Oct 29, 2023    Pastor Doug Kilchenman

In the Old Testament, God chose to dwell with His people in the Tabernacle. His presence would literally fill the Holy of holies, and He would be visible to the children of Israel through a pillar of fire by night and cloud by day.

Yet, God had something much bigger planned!

Isaiah prophesied hundreds of years in advance (Isaiah 7:14) that a virgin would bring forth a son, the fulfillment of Genesis 3:15, who would be called "Immanuel". In other words, God was going to come down and dwell again only this time as a MAN - a God-Man!

In Matthew 1:21-25, the Bible says that Jesus Christ was the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy as he was called "Jesus" or Jehovah is salvation and "Emmanuel" which is "God with us."

In John's glorious introduction, he makes the bold declaration, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

WOW. What a thing God did!
